I am a born again believer. I am not afraid to share my faith. "But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven." Matthew 10:33
In today’s world, eventually you are going to get hurt or a tragedy is going to happen. During those times what are we supposed to do? Do we keep smiling or just give up.
Verse 1-2 tells us that it is ok to tell God what is going on. Tell him that you are upset that your mother is in the hospital or you just lost your job. He knows what is going on but he wants to know that you will lean on him on times of distress.
Verse 3-4 tells us that we need to ask for Gods help. He is not going to help if he is not invited to.
Verse 5-6 allows us to remember and trust in God’s promises. We will be with God forever if you are a son or daughter through Christ.
1 Samuel 18- 20
I wanted to take a few minutes to discuss true friendship. Saul had did evil in sight of the Lord and because of this David was chosen to be the next king. Jonathan was Saul’s son. In those times, he should have been king next. Instead, he was swept aside for David. Jonathan had every reason to hate David but instead became friends with David. He was willing to go before Saul and intercede for David. Later, he helped David escape. Jonathan was like Jesus for us. We have every reason to be killed. But, Jesus calls us friends. He loves us and wants what is best for us.
John 15:15 –“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
Jesus loves me this I know, even when I get in trouble or put too much on my plate.
I deal with stress daily and it can get overwhelming. I feel out of control sometimes and have think about what the problem was in the first place. Sometimes it can be as simple as interrupted sleep other times it is more work related with a computer being slow.
I am a planner. I like to have that control. It can get hard when I have to do something that I have not planned on doing. I think that is why I work so well with autistic kiddos in my classroom. They are creatures of habit as well. But when events occur that are out of control we must face them. It is hard sometimes according to the situation. I have always had kidney problems but the doctor told me 2 years ago that I really needed surgery. I had a blockage. While it was scary then, I have not had any problems since then. I have to remember 2 Corinthians 4:8-10
"8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies."
God knows what I deal with daily. It is not a surprise for him. He will take care of us, but sometimes our idea of being taken care of is not the same as his. Anyone else have a problem with planning?
I hope that everyone had a great Father's Day. I wanted to take a moment and remind everyone that even if you father is not here there is one that will always be there for you.
A few truths
God will take care of us
He wants us
He knows our needs
He provides for us
All we have to do is believe in him John 3
Romans 8:15- He adopted us for all time
1 Samuel 16-17
Have you been feeling like everything was out of control and God was not helping you? This is how Israel felt after Saul was told he was not to be king much longer. The philistines were against them and there was a huge problem in the form of a man called Goliath. We have all heard the story but let’s think for a minute. Goliath was 9 FEET tall. David was the youngest son. He was not tall or hansom but God saw into his heart. People look on the outside and decide how a person is within seconds. Have you ever made a mistake by doing that? I know that I have. I have thought a person would be mean due to their appearance and now that person is one of my closest friends. Take the time to focus on the heart of God because if you focus on his will then you will be showing love as well.
Have you ever thought, there has got to be something more to this Church thing; we go to church and then go home? Sometimes I wonder what the point is (when I am in the valley) and sometimes I am on a high mountaintop. Some people do not go to church but instead watch it on TV.
Stop praying at God and instead pray to God. That can be a hard concept to understand. Instead of asking him for this and that, focus on what he would want. He created everything. He cared enough to make each person unique. We all have our own looks and talents. There are some truths that we must acknowledge about him.

God is All Powerful Colossians 1:16
God is Fair and Just Proverbs 8:13
We are not promised tomorrow. In fact, we could die in the next few minutes. Because of this we should not focus on things of the earth. Instead we should focus on God and his plan for us.
Ok, that sounds great but can we really do that? When my boss tells me that I have to do this and this before 3pm or I will be written up, I can get frazzled. Especially when I thought that I already turned it in. It can be hard to focus on how easy we can leave this place.
James 4:14 New International Version (NIV)
14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
With that in our minds we should focus on what is most important, our relationship with Jesus.
Matthew 10:32-33 New International Version (NIV)
32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.
This is not to say that he does not love us. He is our Father or daddy if you will. He created us and wants what is best for us.
New King James Version (NKJV)11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
God knows that we make mistakes and he loves us anyway. He wants what is best for us. He is there to parent us and not be our friend. That may mean allowing us to have the consequences of our actions.
Do not conform to the ideals of this world, do not loss what you have gained in Jesus.
Luke 14:34-35mNew International Version (NIV)34 “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? 35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile; it is thrown out.“Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
God wants your all or nothing. He hates those that say one thing but do another. Are you willing to give your all to him?
Hell is a scary place do you know that. There is only one way to heaven:
John 14:6 New International Version (NIV)6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
And it is hard to do this:
Luke 14:26-27 New International Version (NIV)
26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.
This does not mean that this is impossible only that you must be willing to step out on faith. Did you know that Jude was Jesus’s ½ brother? I did not until today. In the book of Jude however, he states that he was a bondservant of Jesus. I wonder if he regrets those times that he could have followed Jesus but did not. He spoke about hell in this book and made it clear that it is a real place.
Jude 7 New International Version (NIV)7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
Jude 13New International Version (NIV)13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.
It will be a place of torture and pain. However, it does state this promise
Jude 17New International Version (NIV)17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.
We follow what Jesus taught in the bible. We listen to make sure that doctrine that we listen to is sound and not from false teachers. We back up everything with the bible.
1 Samuel 13-15:35
Israel demanded a king, so God gave them Saul. However, Saul did not always do what he was suppose to. One time when the army went to battle he waited for the priest. He finally did the offering himself. He was the king not a priest! God was very upset with him and he was told he would not be king for much longer. Then later, he went to attack another group. He and the army were suppose to kill all people and animals. However, they kept some of the animals and items of worth back. God was sorry that he had made Saul king. He knew how to obey God but did not.
We should obey God and follow what he wants us to do. When we disobey him, there are consequences that we must face. This does not mean that he does not love us but rather he loves us enough that he wants the best for us. He knows that we will continue to do wrong until there is a reason to stop.
So the other day I got upset. I had to my niece and nephew 100 times ( I am exaggerating- I am sure) to close the door when they go outside. Well my nephew did not that morning when he went to get the mail. He went in and forgot to close the door. Then the dogs ran out. I then had to run after them and bring them in. I was so upset and that set the tone for the rest of the day. I was upset and irritated. I am not perfect and I know that but I feel that sometimes I get upset with the small stuff instead of focusing on God’s blessings. In order to fix this I know that I need to focus on God and what he has given me.
Romans 12:2 states …
“2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
This is what I need to focus more on. Focus on what I should say and do. Because God knows what I am thinking before I say it. We are not always able to fix what is happening around us but we can fix how we respond to it. I know that this is hard because we label ourselves. I am a special education teacher, a dog foster mom, a Sunday school teacher, just like my mom, mean…etc. We will be rejected from this world. We are not part of this world.
1 Peter 2:4-5 states…
“4As you come to him, the living Stone--rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual housea to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.”
Of course, there are different types of anger to stay the least. Sometimes I explode and other times I keep it to myself. I can explode and slam doors or give stern words to others. Other times, I will just shut down so to speak to not deal with the problem at hand. By knowing what you mainly do, you can control it better. I am trying to anchor how I deal with problems. I know that Jesus loves us and wants what is best for us.
According to James 3:9-12
“9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”
…. in other words we should think before saying. For words become actions and actions become a lifestyle.
I have found the old song, count your blessings to be a blessing when I get angry. I count and pray but sometimes I gotta sing too. God knows how much I can handle and he will get me through it, but I must trust in him.
Because really who’s side am I on? I know how the battle ends at the end of book….God.
Malachi- Have been reading this book and I wanted to share some of my thoughts with you:
We are God’s messenger
We are adopted family- Israel is God’s chosen people but they were winners and idolaters
God let the people fuss- he did not strike them down for it
God loves them- Malachi 1:2a
God does not change Malachi 3:6-7a
He gives us a way Malachi 3:7b
Deeper thoughts- Romans 1-5 gives an even better showing of his love- He loves us so much that he was willing to die for us. We are sinners and deserve eternal punishment
We should do what we are called to do and not be afraid of it. What are some things that you are afraid of?
