I hope that you had a great day today. I did at the Alabama Nature Center in Wetumpka. I am working summer extension this week. Our field trip was great. Yesterday, we learned all about trees and today we actually got to see a few. First, we got to use nets to try and catch fish. Then we went on a hike upstream. The kiddos loved that they got to walk in the water. We ate lunch after that and got to go to the center and pet a few animals. They all loved touching snakes and turtles. I am glad that the kiddos had fun and learned some new facts. It was a great place to visit!
What were some of your favorite filed trips or day trips lately?
I hope that your day went well. I have been busy working on items for my classroom next year. I am doing a new sight word wall. I have a farm theme in my room and that leads to the garden in the playground…. so lets just say I love agriculture. Anyway, I am done with some of my items if you want to pop over to my teacher pay teacher account to look at them. My plan is to use a fly swatter to allow the kids to hit each word on the wall as he or she says it. I am planning to go through all the word lists in due time.
I have K-5 in my SPE classroom but I have not finished the others yet. If you want them, just hold on and I will get them out soon. I am excited about the new school year and I am buzzing with ideas. I love that I have the summer to get ready for it. I am a little worried that my aides may be overwhelmed with my changes next year but so be it. My kiddos are going to know their sight words or my name is not Robin. If you are a teacher or a parent or even know a kiddo what is the most important thing that a child must have to succeed in life?
I hope that you have had a great day today. I am looking in my agriculture conference paperwork that I received last week. I learned so much at the Alabama Conference and I cannot wait to take it in my classroom next year. I am planning to work on having a topic of study each month. I want to have everything in a bin so I will not forget to use it. I am a fan of agriculture and my students know it. I have a class garden and they have so much fun learning hands on. Did you know that food comes from 2% of the world? Farming is something we have to have to have food. Just in case you are interested, I thought that I would give you a few websites that can help you out.
I know that this is not part of the curriculum for AL but I save about 30 minutes a week to do these activities. Because this is transition and this is important. We can do without a lot and survive but not without food. Do you teach agriculture?
