Today I have the pleasure of cleaning my classroom some. I have not done it in a while and I know that I need to. I am taking down some items and putting up others. I am excited that I got a new kiddo on my caseload but I am working on my schedule and figuring out how to add him in. I am excited to see how it turns out! What do you do when there are new kiddos in your class? I spend time with them and do a get to know them session.
This week I will be starting to work on Sign Language with one of the classes that I have. I really do not have time during the day, so I think it will have to be an after school club. I am still working out the finer details but I think that the class that I am choosing will enjoy it. I have a kiddo in there that had a lot of hearing problems and needs to learn it. However, she needs to see that it is not going to put her in a bubble. I will wait and see what happens. Do you do any clubs at your school?
Who has started planning for the kiddos. I know that I have. I am making sensory bottles today. My kiddos love them and it calms the kiddos with autism. They are super easy to make and much cheaper than buying them. They are super easy to make.
Fill the bottle with the oil and add the glitter. Then put tape around the lid to keep it on.
Have fun experimenting with different things. I am putting letters in one to make it a reading activity.
I hope everyone is enjoying their time off. I know that both me and the students needed it. We were all getting on each others nerves. I am glad that we are able to relax and recharge for another 5 months of school. I am planning on relaxing and not doing much of anything during the break. What are your plans?
The students have been crazy this week and it is only Tuesday. They are excited about winter break and want to start early. We are TESTING this week. Who in their right mind puts testing a week before break. Shaking my head. I have told my kiddos to do the best that they can and let it go. I am ready for a break and I know that they are as well.
I hope that your week started out like you wanted. I know that mine has. With the end goal in mind, I know that I have been calmer than I had been previously. I have my to do list shorter and it has helped me finish everything for that day more effeciently. I know that some days I will have more to do than others but they will be farther apart and not as demanding as what I was doing. It has helped me to learn to say no. What has helped you find peace?
I have decided that I will be focusing on more goal oriented lessons these next few weeks. I want to make sure that I am able to assist all of my students to the best of my abilities. I want to do better because I know that they can do more if I push them. I want them to be the best that they can be.This will also lower my stress on making sure that they are learning something. Any tips?
I am so thankful that I got to take this week off. I needed a break from my students and I think that they needed a break from me. I have some new ideas and I can not wait to get back to school and implement them in the next few weeks before we are out for Christmas. What are your plans?
I am SICK of testing. Global Scholar, district made tests, online reviews, etc. My system is doing so much testing and not enough teaching. We need to teach not test these babies to death. I feel that my kiddos in particular are getting frustrated. I had one kiddo tell me " I couldn't do it last week, why am I doing it again" I said do the best you can and you will get a reward. (pencil) My students are done. Is there any other SPE teachers that are feeling the same way as I do?
I want to go back to the basics. I am tired of all these random things that we do daily. I want to teach the standards and them only. We have so many different curriculums that it is unreal. I think that we are not doing anything with consistency. I wish that we could go a year without adding anything new to our curriculum. What do you have at your school?
