I hope that you had a great Christmas Holiday. I know that I did. I had a great time being with my family and hanging out with family that I have not seen in a while. What all did you get to do? I know that I ate way too many sweets but I will be fine.
So... I finally got over the cold to get the stomach bug. I do not how I got it but I do. I am not doing much today. I am sleeping and drinking liquids when I can. I am not eating much. I hope that I feel better soon. How do you deal with being sick?
I hope that you are having a great week. I have caught a cold. Not fun, let me tell you. I feel horrible and I do not want to do much. But I know that I need to make sure that I keep my house clean and disinfected so I can get rid of it faster. I have cleaned when I have felt like it and closed off parts of the house to not contaminate them so to speak. What do you do when you are sick? I tend to eat a lot of soup and liquids.
The Advent Season is a time of preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth. It takes place 4 weeks prior to Christmas eve. Three purple candles represent royalty and ibt pink candle reflects the joy of his birth.
1st Sunday-Celebrating Grace and Peace: We set a time aside to contemplate Christ’s coming and to take an account on how we are doing. God will give us assistance if we ask him. We should look at our lives and think on how we can make it better.
2nd Sunday- Celebrating Hope: Our hope is in the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Our confidence in this is what allows us to get out of ruts and creates a path to our savior. He came to save us from sin.
Isaiah 9: 6-7
3rd Sunday- Celebrating Joy: We can see our effort beginning to bear fruit in how we act and think. What joy to see Jesus reflected in our actions. We are his light to others.
4th Sunday- Celebrating Faith: We need to take the lessons that we have learned into the new year. God should be the center of our lives. We should keep Christmas in our hearts all year long.
Items that are used during this time:
Greenery in the homes shows peace and the color green represents new life in Jesus. Jesus is eternally and never changing. The evergreen trees are always green
The Candles and lights show how Jesus will always pierce the darkness of sin.
The wreaths are an old tradition. A long time ago they were put wreaths on the doors of homes to remember that there was a person i the house that was at war. We are at war daily with sin.
The tradition of the Christmas tree has many variations on how it came about. But the ornaments are interesting. The candles (lights) are used to show God’s light. They are white to show purity. There are some ornaments that have meaning:
Lamps- light of the world
Doves- holy spirit
Cross- death of Jesus
Crowns- risen king
Reminds us of the start of the east
The flames of the candles remind us that something is happening and we light one a week to show that we are watching and ready.
It is in a circle to show that it is never ending.
1 white in the center to show Jesus is the center of all creation
3 purple to show- repentance, patience and preparation
1 pink to show joy
The gifts of Christmas show us that we give gifts to others like God gave his greatest gift to us. (his son)
