I hope that you are having a great week. I created a great centerpiece for 4th of July. I used a old jar that was nicked and could not be used for canning. A bit of paint and it is ready to go. Thought that I would share. What are you doing for the 4th?
I hope that you had a great day with your dad yesterday. I know that I did. After church we ate out and then talked about what we have been doing lately. I know that one day I will miss that time with him. I pray for those that have lost their dad or had a father but not a dad. There is a difference. I wanted to give you a few facts about the actual day.
“On June 19, 1910, the governor of the U.S. state of Washington proclaimed the nation’s first “Father’s Day.””
After that, there was some controversy about whether to keep it or scrap the idea but due to different circumstances it stayed around. During the war it was a way to show honor to the troops. Some men did not like the idea but it seemed it was here to stay.
“In 1972, in the middle of a hard-fought presidential re-election campaign, Richard Nixon signed a proclamation making Father’s Day a federal holiday at last.”

I am sitting inside right now watching it rain. I am so happy that it is raining. My plants can sure use the water. I am amazed that God created such a cycle to help us. Until Noah’s Ark, no person even knew what rain was. That was why the people during that time gave Noah such a hard time. I wonder if that is the reason some decisions that I have to make can seem so silly later on.
I ended my relationship with my boyfriend. It was not going anywhere and I felt that it was dragging me down more than uplifting me. The man in question is a deacon and is a Godly man. But I believe that he was not right for me. We had to many differences. I love to travel and he is a homebody. In fact I am planning to go to Africa to see missionary friends next spring. He looked at me like I was out of my mind. “Don’t you know that Ebola is still over there!?” I also love kids, I mean really….I am a teacher. That should have clued him in. BUT he told me he does not like kids and does not want any down the road. I understand his reluctance but there is a deeper thing that he did not want to share with me. Then there was the issue with my niece and nephew. Needless to say, I am a very involved aunt with them and I put them first. He would call the day of and ask to meet that night and well I had plans.
I guess this goes without saying, but I will miss him. I will miss his conversations and our late night texting. But I felt as if I was more mature than him and he is not ready to take the next step. He is stuck in the past and does not want to try new things. I guess until God sends me the right mate I will focus on him and keep my life in prospective. What new things are happening in your life?
"Proverbs 31:10-31New Living Translation (NLT)
A Wife of Noble Character
10 [a]Who can find a virtuous and capable wife?
She is more precious than rubies.
11 Her husband can trust her,
and she will greatly enrich his life.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
13 She finds wool and flax
and busily spins it.
14 She is like a merchant’s ship,
bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household
and plan the day’s work for her servant girls.
16 She goes to inspect a field and buys it;
with her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She is energetic and strong,
a hard worker.
18 She makes sure her dealings are profitable;
her lamp burns late into the night.
19 Her hands are busy spinning thread,
her fingers twisting fiber.
20 She extends a helping hand to the poor
and opens her arms to the needy.
21 She has no fear of winter for her household,
for everyone has warm[b] clothes.
22 She makes her own bedspreads.
She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns.
23 Her husband is well known at the city gates,
where he sits with the other civic leaders.
24 She makes belted linen garments
and sashes to sell to the merchants.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity,
and she laughs without fear of the future.
26 When she speaks, her words are wise,
and she gives instructions with kindness.
27 She carefully watches everything in her household
and suffers nothing from laziness.
28 Her children stand and bless her.
Her husband praises her:
29 “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world,
but you surpass them all!”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last;
but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
31 Reward her for all she has done.
Let her deeds publicly declare her praise."
Yay! It’s summer time!
I am so glad that the school year is out. Not to say that I do not love my students but I needed a break. They needed one as well. I put a list of things that I am planning to do this summer in Alabama. I have never been to these places and I would love if you have and want to give me any tips.
Go to Desoto Caverns and see the caves.
See the Animals at the Harmony Park Safari
Go to the Ava Maria Grotto and see replicas of some of the most famous historic buildings and shrines of the world.
Hike in Cheaha State Park which has the highest mountain in Alabama
Go camping in Oak Mountain State park
Go to Dismals Canyon and hike
Go on a tour in Petals from the Past. I have heard some great things about this place.
I am excited to start of this summer. All the pictures are from their prospective websites. I am excited to go to all of these places for the first time. What are your plans for the summer?
