I was in the store the other day and I had gotten this and that. My buggy was full of things. However, the line was long and I started thinking these 3 questions:
Do I really need these items?
Why am I getting them?
What is helping me decide to buy them?
I realized that I was buying most of it just because I could. I am a beginner trying to minimalize my life. I did end up getting out of line and putting a lot of it back. I realized that I need to shop alone and not with others. I want to pay off all my debt and that will be hard to do if I have more money going out than in. I think more in the right now than in the future. It is hard for me sometimes but I am getting better at it. I have learned that if I want something I write it down and then wait a day or two. If after those two days I can still justify needing it, I go buy it. What do you do to save money?
I thought that I would give you a few cash vs card tips. I am still deciding on whether to use all cash. I have switched over all my cards to 1 card. I want to pay off that before the 0 interest is gone. What do you prefer?
Pro- Cash is accepted at all stores that are brick and mortar. You can only spend what you have, so it helps with budgeting.
Draw back- Large purchases can be hard to complete.
Pros- Safer to use since if lost or stolen can be recovered. Some cards provide insurance on items that are bought with the card. Using it and paying it off monthly can assist in increasing credit score. Credit cards are used in online stores. Rewards can be gained using credit cards.
Draw back- If not paid off, interest can occur.
